“The Yusupov Quarter and the Mystery of Rasputin's Murder”

A walking tour including a visit to the “Assassination of Grigory Rasputin” exhibition at Yusupov Palace. The tour begins at the monument to Emperor Nicholas I on St. Isaac's Square.
We invite you to take a walk from St. Isaac's Square along Bolshaya Morskaya Street and the Moika River Embankment, through Prachechny Lane, to the Yusupov estate.
This route is rich in architectural landmarks and fascinating historical events!
Imagine Auguste de Montferrand entering his mansion, while artist Valentin Serov hurries to the palace of Princess Orlova. A fatal gunshot rings out on the Moika Embankment, and a grand duke's motorcar emerges from Glukhoy Lane carrying Rasputin's body.
Behind the magnificent façades of the capital of the Russian Empire, a historical drama unfolds. An expert historian will reveal its secrets and explore the different accounts of these dramatic events.
We will visit the Yusupov estate, discover where the icehouses and carriage sheds once stood, see the historic pavilions and climb the landscaped hill. Then, passing through the State Courtyard, we will enter the private apartments of Felix Yusupov and travel back to the fateful night of December 16, 1916, when Rasputin was murdered.
