“The Bond Between Times Has Been Severed” Scientific and Practical Conference at the Yusupov Palace
09.02.2026
The Yusupov Palace on the Moika River embankment will host a scientific and practical conference titled “The Break in the Continuity of Time: The Fate of Palaces and Private Collections in the 20th Century.”
The conference is part of the anniversary year—in 2025–2026, the Yusupov Palace on the Moika will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the House of the Teacher.
During this time, the palace has evolved from a club for educators into a historical and cultural center. Through their research, staff members have identified and made available for scholarly use unique archival materials, memoirs, and documents related to the palace’s history in the 20th century.
The conference’s themes cover a wide range of issues related to the fate of palaces, estates, and private collections after the revolution, the processes of museumification, the transformation of architectural space, and changes in cultural policy during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods.
We invite specialists in the museum, archival, and restoration fields, employees of government agencies, researchers, and experts in the field of cultural heritage preservation to participate.
Date: August 27, 2026
Venue: Yusupov Palace, 94 Moika River Embankment.
A collection of conference proceedings is planned to be published following the conference.
Detailed information on participation conditions, application requirements, and submission deadlines is provided in the information letter and publication guidelines.
